The Institute of Earth Observation and Remote Sensing

IEORS is a geosptial consultancy hub dedicated to the advancement of Geospatial Analysis, and Remote Sensing technology.

Originally established to serve the technical needs of Myanmar’s geological community, IEORS has evolved into a fully online institute. We leverage cloud computing and satellite data to provide high-precision spatial solutions and professional training to clients and students worldwide, regardless of geographic boundaries.

Technical Service Areas

  • Seismotectonics & Hazard Mapping: Specialized in Coulomb stress modeling, focal mechanism inversions, and the development of the Myanmar Active Fault Database.

  • Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA): Remote land suitability assessments for high-yield agriculture and sustainable urban planning.

  • Land Use & Land Cover (LULC) Change Detection: Multi-temporal satellite imagery analysis and quantitative change detection for environmental management.

  • Flood Hazard Modeling: Advanced hydrological and hydraulic simulations to map inundation and peak discharge.

  • HEC-HMS & HEC-RAS Analysis: Specialized rainfall-runoff modeling and 1D/2D steady/unsteady flow simulations for river systems.

  • Geospatial Scripting & Environmental Monitoring: Advanced scripting for real-time monitoring of river morphology and automated flood detection.

Our Online Workflow

As a digital-first institute, we utilize a streamlined virtual pipeline:

  • Data Acquisition: Cloud-based retrieval of multi-sensor satellite imagery (Sentinel, Landsat, MODIS).
  • Processing & Analysis: Heavy computation performed via Google Earth Engine and advanced geospatial algorithms.

  • Delivery: Secure, remote delivery of technical reports, interactive web maps, and GIS databases to our global clients.

Educational Programs

We offer specialized professional training designed for the modern workforce.

  • Upcoming Course: GIS Mapping and Geospatial Analysis using ArcGIS Pro

  • Format: 100% Online (Interactive Lectures & Hands-on Projects)
